Tittatts: Life After Breast Cancer
Meet the author.
Charlavan Baker Hart has spent a lifetime writing, painting, and raising a family.  For the past ten years she has been a columnist for the Journal OK.  Some of those colulmns are included in the Tittatts book.  When she was diagnosed with breast cancer, she had just opened her fourth and last art gallery.

Before all of that there were years spent as a model and image consultant.  She would warn you of that before she goes all "arty" on you.

The most helpful thing in this author's recovery was the decision to have all the scars from the several surgeries, covered with tattoos. She claims that just those flowers and butterflies instead of scars, made her well.  Probably so.  She is indeed well and anxious to help someone else.
Tittatts is an honest and compelling account of how the author dealt with a potentially life threatening and disfiguring illness.   Charlavan moves towards health utilizing conventional medicine, alternatiave meeicine, humor and art.  The book is not merely an account of her illness.  Her humor and art are original.  Laughter is always good medicine.  Although she is very frank about how she struggled with her expectations and accomodations to the disease, she makes the reader feel pride in her feisty resilience.
Charlavan reminds us that she is not just a breast.  She is a whole person.  She utilizes her mind and her bodyto fight and recover from cancer.  Her tattoos celebrate her integration of experience.  Her life was not limited to dealing exclusively with cancer.

"After twenty-five years of practice and thousands of patients, Charlavan has finally written the book I have waited for. Not the medical text with the statistics, options and risks, but the personal side of the breast cancer experience. This is a must read for anyone at any stage of their journey. From disease to wellness."
